The Displays at Circa Towers
In the heart of downtown Los Angeles, just steps away from the Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center), L.A. LIVE, and the Los Angeles Convention Center, sits the new development known as Circa. Consisting of two 35-story luxury residential towers, a 2-acre rooftop amenities deck, and space for multiple high-end retail and dining establishments, this stately new development also features over 18,200 square feet of state-of-the-art exterior LED video displays.
The project is located at 1200 South Figueroa Street.
Around the Bend
Installed on the property's eight-story parking structure, the convex and concave design of the displays allows them to mirror the unique curvature of the architecture. The sprawling trio of displays measures 120' wide by 66' tall; 112' wide by 53' tall; and 85' wide by 53' tall. The displays feature a 10 mm pixel pitch and contain a total of more than 17 million pixels.
In addition to showcasing the property's residential units, the huge digital platform will promote commercial tenants and certain nearby businesses. With concerts, conventions and other well-attended venues, the area in and around the Circa property draws more than 6 million visitors annually.
SMD Packaging Technology
All LED screens in the project employ surface-mount device (SMD) pixel technology, where the LEDs in each pixel are packaged together, allowing for crisp, clear imagery and a widened viewing experience. SNA Displays continues to provide an industry-leading array of interior and exterior products offered with SMD packaging technology.
Project Partners
SNA Displays partnered with YESCO, a leading U.S. custom signage integrator, for fabrication and installation of all secondary steel structural components along with the installation and integration of the electronics for all digital assets.
A Brighter Future
In addition to the new LED displays, a series of color-changing architectural lighting features that run vertically along each tower will be added to the development. Visit this page in the summer of 2018 for photos of the completed project. In the meantime, please visit the LA LIVE project page for an example of the LED strip lighting.
