Slack Technologies Adds Direct-View LEDs to North American Corporate Offices
Business communication platform company Slack Technologies tapped SNA Displays to supply direct-view LED systems for two of its North American office locations in San Francisco and Denver. The digital displays are used in multipurpose events rooms. These types of common areas are a growing trend as more technology companies seek spaces with an open layout that allow them flexibility to host events or simply offer a place for people to congregate.
In other words, these multi-use rooms let companies stage a conference in the morning, with a high-end digital display system to support the event’s visual needs. By the afternoon, employees can be back in that room, collaborating around a table, coffee in-hand while company-relevant announcements or inspiring artistic content play on the screen.
SNA Displays worked with the Audio Visual Design Group (AVDG), part of the SNA Displays channel partner program, who procured and installed the three displays.
Narrow-pitch LED displays offer a way where they can communicate more visually with their employees and guests but also showcase their brand in a dynamic way.
Two narrow-pitch LED screens from SNA Displays’ BRILLIANT™ display series have been installed at Slack’s corporate office in San Francisco at 45 Fremont Street. The high-rise is located in the city’s Financial District on the southeast side of Salesforce Park and very close to 50 Fremont Street, 350 Mission Street, 100 First Street, and Salesforce Tower, all buildings with LED display technology from SNA Displays.
The prominence of direct-view LED in the area is consistent with an upward trend in LED displays over their LCD counterparts, particularly in corporate environments where the utility for large, seamless video technology is on the rise.
One of the two new displays at Slack’s San Francisco office is 7'5" high by 13' wide (1,800 pixels by 3,200). This video screen has a very tight pixel pitch of 1.25 mm, referring to the distance between the center of pixels on the display. The display is mounted using X-Arm frames, which are scissor frames that can extend from the wall to allow for easy access, installed by RP Visual Solutions. It consists of more than 5.7 million pixels–more than many LED spectaculars found in Times Square or Las Vegas–and is approximately 97 square feet.
The second San Francisco LED display employs a 1.88 mm pixel pitch and sports a more traditional high-definition resolution: 1,080 pixels high by 1,920 pixels wide. The 6'7" x 12' screen has 78 square feet of digital display canvas.
“So many growing companies, especially in the tech space, are building more engaging workplace environments,” said Paul England, director of solutions for SNA Displays’ channel partner program. “Narrow-pitch LED displays offer a way where they can communicate more visually with their employees and guests but also showcase their brand in a dynamic way.”
Slack also procured a narrow-pitch display for its corporate office in Denver, located just east of Millennium Bridge and midway between Coors Field and the Pepsi Center. The LED screen is mounted on vertical wood posts behind a townhall-style stage. It has a pixel pitch of 1.67 mm, also from SNA Displays’ BRILLIANT™ line of display products. The 5'11" high by 10'6" wide display (62 square feet) contains more than two million pixels (1,080 x 1,920).
Slack’s new Denver office was under construction during display installation, which presented logistical challenges, but SNA Displays and AVDG overcame these challenges to deliver a stunning display, according to England.
