Purdue University - Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering

SNA Displays manufactured a 1.8 mm BRILLIANT™ Interior LED video wall as part of the 150^th anniversary celebration of Purdue University’s College of Engineering. The display features several immersive art pieces created for its initial launch by digital media design studio Exhibitry. The content was crafted to honor some of the college’s most consequential engineers while representing its core virtues of innovation, ingenuity, and vibrancy.

The 7’9” x 13’9” BRILLIANT™ Interior LED screen is mounted flush on a brick wall above a doorway in the Herman & Heddy Kurz Atrium at Armstrong Hall. It features a tight pixel pitch of 1.8 millimeters at a resolution of 1,260 x 2,240 pixels and processes more than 2.8 million pixels. The content management system can receive live input for presentations and it integrates audio outputs for the display content as well as event speakers.

The display is two dimensional, but, thanks to Exhibitry’s design expertise and a carefully placed sticker in the lobby marking the viewing “sweet spot,” students, faculty, and guests can enjoy the anamorphic 3D content created for the screen's initial launch. This content includes scenes despicting achievements by alumni Neil Armstrong, Amelia Earhart, Lillian Gilbreth, and John M. Atalla. Also included are content pieces unique to the College of Engineering, such as Purdue AI Racing’s autonomous race car and Purdue Space Program’s rocket launch.
