New Hospital, New LED Video Mosaic

SNA manufactured and installed this LED mosaic as part of the newly constructed Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital on the campus of Ohio State University. The hospital and its new state-of-the-art LED display is part of the campus' Wexner Medical Center.

The art deco-style digital display consists of 15 LED units, creating a mosaic that complements other interior architecture of the hospital unit.

Donor Recognition Wall

The custom display serves as a donor recognition wall for the hospital. Show+Tell designed the dynamic mosaic, creating a sleek donor recognition medium.

Surface-Mount Device (SMD) Technology

Each of the 15 displays employs surface-mount display (SMD) technology, where the LEDs in each pixel are packaged together, allowing for crisp, clear imagery and a widened viewing experience. In addition, all displays have a 6 mm pixel pitch to allow for walk-up viewing.

All displays are 32 pixels high and range from 160 pixels to 448 pixels wide. There are 140,288 physical pixels in the installation. However, because the "blank" spaces in the content are also rendered, the screens display more than 400,000 pixels.

Custom-Engineered Cabinets

Additionally, the display cabinets were custom-designed to match components of the interior architecture and are finished with a clear, anodized look.

"These displays complement the new state-of-the art facilities at the hospital," said Greg Ludwig, senior project manager for SNA. "A dynamic and changeable donor recognition wall will be a great asset to the hospital, in terms of ease of use as well as look and feel."

The displays were installed by Trademark Branding Company.
