Nemours Children's Health

SNA Displays partnered with experience design firm Dimensional Innovations to create an interactive, immersive storytelling experience at Nemours Children's Health hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. The pediatric hospital is operated by the Nemours Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1936.

The interactive video wall, titled Wings of Legacy, is 50 feet long with a slight curve, featuring 1.2 mm BRILLIANT™ Interior LED video display technology. It replaced a video wall of similar size but with dozens of bezels, transforming the space to a single, flowing video canvas. At 6’ tall x 50’ wide (1,440 x 12,160 pixels), the dvLED processes approximately 17.5 million pixels. Dimensional Innovations designed the display experience and installed it in an area called the Discovery Zone presented by Dupont.

The video wall is crafted to provide comfort, distraction, and emotional support to young patients and their families during what is often a stressful time. The screen incorporates full-body tracking, allowing users to interact with the digital environment using simple hand gestures. Patients and visitors can also engage with the display via their mobile devices. After scanning a QR code, they can create a custom bird avatar to explore the digital world and discover mini-games. These experiences are designed to evolve over time, encouraging repeat engagement and providing ongoing distraction during hospital visits. Even when no one is interacting, the scene remains calm and gently animated, offering a soothing visual presence in the atrium.

The process includes community and emotional connection, enabling visitors to share uplifting messages that appear across the display, creating a collective atmosphere of support and positivity. Staff can update these messages over time, allowing the experience to reflect the needs and spirit of the community.
