Lamar University Umphrey Stadium LED Videoboard

SNA Displays upgraded the video scoreboard for Lamar University’s Provost Umphrey Stadium. The 16,000-seat venue is home to the NCAA Division I Lamar Cardinals' football team.

Owner's representative and technology consultant, Anthony James Partners (AJP), provided comprehensive design, procurement, and construction administration services, supporting Lamar University, a public college just east of Houston, in selecting SNA Displays to manufacture and install the new videoboard.

At 73 feet 6 inches wide and 34 feet tall, the 2.5-million-pixel videoboard is approximately twice the size of the stadium’s previous display. It is mounted to the roof of the Dauphin Athletic Complex at the southeast end of the field and uses SNA Displays’ EMPIRE™ Exterior XS video display technology. The LED video display employs a 10-mm pixel pitch and offers a high-definition resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

The new videoboard houses a Point-Source Audio system designed by AJP and Danley Sound Labs long-throw speakers with twin 18" subwoofers powered by Danley DNA 20K4 Pro amplifiers. Additional elements to the videoboard structure include a seven-foot-tall interlocking LU logo facing the field and a 37-foot-wide illuminated Lamar University athletics logo facing the street.

Bakers’ Signs provided installation services.
