L.A. Live LED Video Displays
SNA Displays manufactured 10 LED video displays at L.A. LIVE, the sports and entertainment district outside the Crytpo.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) in Los Angeles. The high-resolution video displays, installed by YESCO, will be an integral part of the ambiance in the district, which is home to some of the area's most high-profile events at the Crytpo.com Arena, Microsoft Theater, the courtyard and other club and restaurant venues.
The project features the main courtyard screen, a long ribbon display, six courtyard tower displays, a tight-radius "prow" screen, and a Crypto.com Arena wall-mounted display.
Main Courtyard LED Display
Of the 10 state-of-the-art LED screens that SNA Displays installed in and around the courtyard, the largest is about 20' high x 38' wide. This display, facing the courtyard and the Crypto.com Arena, is single-sided and mounted below the sponsored "Microsoft Square" channel letters. The exterior display, like all video displays throughout the project, consists of a tight 8 mm pixel pitch and includes 750 pixels high and 1,440 pixels wide for a total of 1,080,000 pixels,
Microsoft Theater LED Ribbon
Along the courtyard-facing outer wall of the Microsoft Theater is SNA's LED ribbon display. The 8 mm ribbon, which is 5'6" high and almost 121' long, curves around the northwest corner of the Microsoft Theater and features almost 1 million pixels (210 x 4,600). The curved design consists of a radius of just under 45 feet.
Microsoft Theater LED "Prow" Display
At the top of the Microsoft Theater is an LED screen featuring a very tight radius and wrapping around the prow-like structure of the entertainment venue. The screen, which also features exterior 8 mm pixel pitch LED technology, curves around the corner at a radius of 6'7", giving the district a unique look and offering a 180-degree viewing experience. The prow display is about 13'6" high and 36' long (510 x 1,360 pixels).
Microsoft Square Tower Displays
The six tower displays in the courtyard, also known as Microsoft Square, are identical and allow the venue's display content to be viewed from a wide variety of positions and angles throughout the district. Each tower display is about 13' high by 23' wide and curves around its tower structure at a radius of just under 14 feet. Each curved LED screen has 480 x 880 pixels (422,400).
Crypto.com Arena LED Screen
Outside the Crypto.com Arena, near the intersection of Chick Hearn and S Figueroa, is the project's final LED display. The wall-mounted screen is approximately 16' high by 20' wide and consists of 600 x 760 pixels (456,000). The Crypto.com Arena video display also features an 8 mm pixel pitch and connects the visual display elements of the courtyard to the arena.
SMD Packaging Technology
All LED displays manufactured by SNA Displays at L.A. LIVE employ outdoor surface-mount device (SMD) technology, where the LEDs in each pixel are packaged together, allowing for crisp, clear imagery and a widened viewing experience.
