INvicta Times Square
SNA Displays partnered with Invicta Watch Company and DJH Consultants to install two LED screens for Invicta's new Times Square storefront. An exterior display and an interior display were installed as part of the project. Invicta is the second major retail watch company SNA has provided LED signage for in Times Square.
For the outdoor digital display, SNA Displays installed an 8 mm pixel pitch video wall. The screen is 8’8” high by 18’11” wide. It consists of 330 pixels high by 720 pixels wide for a total of 237,600 pixels.
The exterior LED display is among many in Times Square, one of the busiest tourist areas in the world, and shares the Broadway-facing façade with Times Square’s largest LED video display at the Marriott Marquis.
Invicta Stores Director Mauricio Krantzberg said it was important to stay relevant in the highly competitive messaging environment.
“We are obviously in a vibrant environment, and we want to stand out to our customers,” said Krantzberg. “The exterior sign is so bright and so vibrant that it can be seen from almost anywhere in the bowtie. Compared to any of the screens in Times Square, we are very happy with ours.”
Latest Outdoor LED Chip Technology
Among the features of the outside retail video display is that it was built using the latest chip set available on the LED market from Nichia Corporation, the world’s leading high-end diode manufacturer. This results in more vibrant colors, greater color consistency, and wider viewing experience. In fact, the exterior display features viewing angles of up to 170 degrees.
Jason Helton, SNA Displays' vice president, had this to say about the project: “Many of the square’s newer screens utilize a 10 mm pitch, and this exterior 8 mm display really stands out. The extra resolution and quality are extremely noticeable, especially with texts and logos, which is very important in a brand-saturated atmosphere.”
“The quality of this display is very noticeable when compared to surrounding displays,” said Helton. “Many of the square’s newer screens utilize a 10 mm pitch, and this exterior 8 mm display really stands out. The extra resolution and quality are extremely noticeable, especially with texts and logos, which is very important in a brand-saturated atmosphere.”
For the interior screen, SNA Displays provided a 4 mm display. The high-resolution LED retail display is 4’5” high by 9’6” wide. The display consists of 336 pixels high by 720 pixels wide for a total of 241,920 pixels.
SMD Packaging Technology
Both LED displays employ surface-mount device (SMD) technology, where the LEDs in each pixel are packaged together, allowing for crisp, clear imagery and a widened viewing experience.
