Downtown Summerlin, one of the newest mixed-use development sites in the U.S., is now home to cutting-edge LED technology from SNA. The project features six LED pylons in the parking area at Sahara Avenue and Beltway, near the urban center’s new shopping mall.
Vertical LED Displays
Each vertical video screen stands more than 29 feet tall and consists of 560 pixels high by 72 pixels wide. The displays employ surface-mount display (SMD) technology, where the LEDs in each pixel are packaged together, allowing for crisp, clear imagery and a widened viewing experience.
Outdoor 16 mm SMD Technology
SMD technology has been offered by manufacturers in the LED industry for several years, but the outdoor Summerlin pylons feature a 16 mm pixel pitch design by SNA.
The screens can be operated independently or together, depending on the content needs.
The displays will be primarily used to provide valuable information to shoppers.
“This unique part of this project’s design is the 16 mm SMD technology,” said Jason Helton, operations manager for SNA. “In addition, the installation has a great architectural element to it, and the displays are arranged so that the dynamic pylons are adjacent to LED-backlit static panels.”
SNA manufactures LED display and LED lighting products across North America and has provided displays for many high-profile customers including Marriott and several Times Square LED video installations such as Express and Minskoff Theatre & MTV Studios.
