Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) 34th Street
SNA Displays manufactured a large-format LED video display for use above Designer Shoe Warehouse at the northwest corner of 34th Street and 7th Avenue in New York City. On the southern edge of the Garment District, the new display is close to Penn Station and outside one of the busiest subway hubs in Manhattan.
Other noteworthy landmarks nearby include Madison Square Garden, the Empire State Building, and Macy’s (yes, that one).
SNA Displays worked hand-in-hand with a preferred partner, AVI-SPL, to bring this project to life. Projects in major cities bring their own unique challenges; the AVI-SPL team in New York City stepped up to the plate with installation, permitting, regulatory compliance, and many other factors that all came together to create a unique experience, right in the heart of Manhattan.
The video display, from SNA Displays’ EMPIRE™ product line, is visible from behind the building’s glass facade. It is 25 feet 2 inches high by 28 feet 4 inches wide with a resolution of 768 pixels high by 864 pixels wide and a total of 663,552 total pixels. The DSW display also has a 10 mm pixel pitch, which means the distance between the center of one pixel and an adjacent pixel is a little over three-eighths of an inch.
Both Designer Shoe Warehouse and Capitol One, located in the same building, will use the display for promotional purposes.
