The EpiCentre, a mixed-use entertainment, dining and retail center in the heart of downtown Charlotte, is home to several LED displays manufactured and installed by SNA Displays. The project incorporates several different LED technologies and displays and ties all of them together for effective content control and management.
Multiple, Integrated LED Technologies
The project includes 16 mm displays, a 10 mm ticker, discrete technology, surface-mount device (SMD) technology, wall-mounted signage, double-faced displays, and three-sided signs. In addition, the project's LED displays are installed throughout the EpiCentre.
Combined, the project includes more than 1,400 square feet of LED and close to 1.25 million pixels.
LED Ticker
The 10 mm pitch LED ticker is sandwiched between two blade signs at the front of the EpiCentre at the corner of East Trade and South College streets. The ticker is a high-resolution, curved display with a large radius of 42'10". It is 3'6" high by 68'6" wide with a resolution of 108 x 2,088 pixels.
LED Blade Signs
At either side of the ticker are two LED blade signs, both with a 10 mm pitch. Each blade display is double-sided and 18'2" tall by 13'0 wide. The resolution of each face is 540 x 384 pixels. The front-facing blade displays are integrated into a single video feed with the LED ticker, creating continuous content across all three LED surfaces.
Three-Sided Sign
At the corner of College and 4th streets, two 16 mm pitch LED video displays wrap the corner. These two displays are installed along with a static face to comprise a three-sided sign. Each face is 20'2" tall by 11'9" wide, making the two LED faces 384 x 224 pixels.
Surface-Mount Device (SMD) Technology
The project's 10 mm displays employ surface-mount device (SMD) technology, where the LEDs in each pixel are packaged together, allowing for crisp, clear imagery and a widened viewing experience.
