Butler University Hinkle Fieldhouse

SNA Displays provided a major digital upgrade to Butler University’s Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Built in 1928 and home to the Butler Bulldogs’ basketball and volleyball programs, the iconic venue is a National Historic Landmark and often referred to as “Indiana’s Basketball Cathedral.”

Technology consultant Anthony James Partners (AJP) provided design, procurement, and construction administration services for the upgrades, supporting Butler in selecting SNA Displays to manufacture and install nearly 2,800 square feet of LED video display technology. SNA Displays also provided demolition and removal services for the venue’s previous display technology.

LED Center-Hung

The centerpiece of the digital upgrade is an LED center-hung display consisting of four curved video screens seamlessly connected to create a continuous 360-degree video surface. Each side features a 3.9 mm pixel pitch with a total display system resolution of 1,088 x 6,784 pixels. The two longer sides measure 14’ tall x 24’7” wide and the two shorter sides measure 14’ x 18’10” for a total of more than 1,200 square feet of digital canvas processing approximately 7.4 million pixels. Other center-hung features include custom static lettering along the top ring of the structure and a team-branded Bulldogs logo facing downward toward the playing surface.

Fascia Ribbons

SNA Displays also provided a pair of 3’ tall x 172’ long (225 x 13,080) LED ribbons along the second-level fascia at both ends of the Fieldhouse. Both ribbons employ a 4 mm pixel pitch.

Vomitory Displays and Scorer’s Tables

Other in-bowl video display upgrades include twin 3’ tall x 19’ wide (225 x 1,440) vomitory displays between the second and third levels, and eight courtside mobile scorer’s tables equipped with LED screens. The tables LED screens measure 2’4” tall x 9’5” wide (180 x 720). The vomitory and scorer table displays employ a 4 mm pixel pitch.

All in-bowl LED display systems were made from SNA Displays’ BOLD™ Interior video technology.

Efroymson Family Gym

In the adjacent practice facility, SNA Displays installed two 8’10” tall x 15’9” wide ASPECT™ all-in-one video screens used for recruitment, training, and event purposes. Both 2.5 mm screens are directly integrated into Hinkle Fieldhouse's upgraded control management system.
