Jimmy Donaldson, the uber-popular YouTube personality known as MrBeast, recently released “I Hunted 100 People For $1,000,000” on YouTube, a video that centers around a competition among MrBeast subscribers recently filmed at American Dream Meadowlands. At the time of this posting, just three days after the video’s release, it already had 24 million views.
In July of this year, MrBeast became only the second YouTube personality to surpass 100 million subscribers on a single channel. Through all of his channels, Donaldson has more than 200 million subscribers and over 25 billion views. He’s also raised more than $50 million in philanthropy work.
The American Dream event pitted 100 participants against each other in a 10-hour, $1 million game of hide-and-seek. Each contestant was given a briefcase with $10,000 and had to find a spot to hide in the mall with their cash. Every player not found after 10 hours got to keep their briefcase.
SNA Displays’ Client Service Group (CSG), which provides technology monitoring, content scheduling, and other managed services for American Dream’s digital signage network, assisted the MrBeast team with the use of the mega-mall’s digital signage network, including LED displays and interactive LCD kiosks. A countdown clock showing time left in the competition was shown on virtually all of the interior LED displays, which were manufactured and installed by SNA Displays. Additionally, approximately 100 kiosks were used to display MrBeast-themed maps to help contestants find their way around the mall.
“It was great to help the MrBeast team in a small way,” said Mike Sabia, director of Client Service Group, which assists American Dream with day-to-day management of its signage network. “We stayed for the duration of the event to make sure everything went smoothly, and it was a fun, entertaining night. American Dream was the absolute perfect venue for this kind of event.”
A day after the video’s release, Donaldson opened his first physical MrBeast Burger restaurant at American Dream. Since starting the food chain as a pop-up restaurant near his hometown of Greenville, North Carolina, in 2020, it has grown to be one of the top independent virtual food brands in the world. Fans of the YouTuber packed the large mall atrium to greet Donaldson, who worked the counter for the restaurant on its inaugural day.
